June 2, 2012 - Ashlie was recommended by her violin teacher to join the Tulare County Junior Symphony. It is a symphony sponsored by the Tulare County Symphony for students in middle school through 10th grade. 6th graders are only allowed by recommendation from their teachers! Woohoo! Ash made it! Actually, at first we didn't think she would be able to do it. The practices were at the exact same time as her Hip Hop class and we had already paid the costume fee for her recital costume for Hip Hop. She was honored to be asked to join the symphony but she had to decline due to her commitment to dance. I made a random post on Facebook one day just a couple of days after she declined. As fate would have it, her dance instructor (whom I'm friends with on Facebook) just happened to see my post about how honored Ash was to be invited but that she had declined. Her dance instructor texted me and said that that was the one costume she had not yet ordered, she was ordering it that very afternoon. If Ashlie wanted to drop the Hip Hop she would be able to get a full refund on her costume fee. I went to the school and found Ashlie and told her what had just happened and left the decision up to her. Symphony or Hip Hop??? It was a tough choice because Hip Hop is one of her favorites - but she chose symphony! They did an amazing job! We were very proud of her and her dedication!
